Irish Poetry Therapy Network
IPTN is a non-profit organisation that provides an environment where participants explore at first hand, through the use of poetry therapy and bibliotherapy, the healing power of poetry and writing as a means of identifying and dealing with various life issues. IPTN holds regular group meetings on a rotational basis in Gorey, Kilkenny and other towns to facilitate its members. Carol is currently the chair of IPTN and further information about the network can be found at http://irishpoetrytherapynetwork.blogspot.com

iaPoetry
iaPoetry offers the opportunity to train in a certificate program in poetry therapy with an emphasis on creative arts. Consultants are available to work with you on specific projects and programs both here and in the US.

The PT training programme encompasses four areas:
Didactic: study of various texts in the field of poetry therapy, creative arts, literature and psychology.
Peer Group: Monthly meetings with others interested in using poetry therapy in their work and lives.
50 Hours min
Supervision: Study with a mentor who will introduce you to techniques of poetry therapy and supervise your facilitation. 80 - 100 Hours
Facilitation: working with poetry in therapeutic ways with individuals and groups. 60 Hours min

Facilitations
Group: I began my training in April 2012 meeting the didactic, peer group and supervision areas of training. My first facilitation experience was in June 2012, running a poetry workshop in an Educate Together School with over 70 participants. I was delighted with the experience and with positive feedback from children and teachers.
My second facilitation was working with Wicklow Writers in July 2012 on the theme of 'problem solving.' This was followed by a facilitation with Arklow Writers, the Men's Shed Group in CDP in Arklow, and a group in Gorey Library.

Individual: Self-discovery sessions with clients on an individual basis began in October 2012
